Rohan Das was in his final year of engineering in Bhubaneswar when he started a study group for five friends who could not afford interview coaching.
He recorded short explanations in Odia and Hindi, posted daily problems and reviewed solutions late into the night. Within months the group had thousands of members from colleges he had never heard of.

CodeChai now runs weekly live sessions in six Indian languages, a mentor network of 900 working engineers and a job board that only lists roles with published salary ranges.
Talent is everywhere in India. Access is not. We just tried to close that gap a little.
It remains free for learners, funded by hiring partners and small grants. “If we ever charge students,” Rohan says, “we have failed.”
